A scorned husband-to-bed stabbed his sweetheart to death, dumping her body on her alleged lover's doorstep and going on a rant about her on a Facebook livestream before taking his own life.

Joshua Mathebula, 36, allegedly stabbed his girlfriend, 26, to death and left her lifeless body outside the home of another man with whom he thought she was having an affair. The tragic incident happened in South Africa, which saw Health and Safety Officer Mathebula propping his fiancée's body up against the front door of the man he accused of sleeping with her.

After the gruesome murder, the man reportedly drove to nearby woods to make a live final Facebook farewell. In it, he claimed that his partner had rekindled an illicit romance with her ex-senior form master from the Mogolo Secondary School in Limpopo Province.

The shocking murder-suicide rocked the rural community of Ga-Mashamothane village in Tubatse, Limpopo Province. It took place late on Sunday with both the lifeless bodies not being found until dawn on Sunday.

Mathebula, who used the alias Otla Ipona on Facebook, accused the teacher of having a fling with his fiancée when she was his student and had found out they had allegedly started meeting again. He was reportedly tipped off that his partner secretly met with the schoolmaster while he was working long hours as an occupational health specialist at a platinum mine.

According to reports, Mathebula attacked his partner and killed her by stabbing her repeatedly in the neck and chest before dumping her body on the schoolmaster's doorstep. He is then said to have posted disturbing pictures of his crime on social media, as well as past photos of him with his girlfriend.

Mathebula then started the Facebook livestream, in which he confessed in detail to what he had just acted upon and spoke of his motives for the heinous crime, before announcing his intention to end his own life. After almost four minutes of the livestream, he got out of his car before taking his own life within sight of his murdered partner's blood-soaked body.

He said on the stream: "This guy Mr Sehlapelo was after my girlfriend. He dates schoolgirls. He’s the reason she dropped out of High School. He used to date my girlfriend when there.

"My girlfriend who was 26 when she died got back together with him. She cheated on me with him. She tried to build a home with me but was cheating on me while I was at work.

"This guy used to greet me, waving at me, knowing he’s cheating with my girlfriend. I found out about them when I was drunk. She used to get money from this teacher.

"We broke up and got back. She begged me to take her back. I stabbed her with a knife several times and told her to rest in peace. I left her at Meneer Sehlapelo’s door.

"I told him he could have her. I was drunk when I found out but I didn’t kill her because I was drunk. I was angry. Now I’m going to kill myself the same way I killed her.

"She didn’t deserve what I did to her. Right now I’m live on Facebook. I’m leaving the video live so people can learn. You must give people the story you've heard."

Police spokesman Colonel Malesala Ledwaba said police found the body of the mutilated woman outside a rented room and the dead woman’s boyfriend was found nearby. A bloodied knife was found inside the car.

A bloodied, badly scrawled note on Mathebula's windscreen read: "The same way you used to f*** her when I’m at work, f*** her now, she’s all yours Sir." Colonel Ledwaba said the 36-year-old's body was found near his partner's and "his car was parked just on the side of the road."

Forensic pathologists took both bodies away for a post-mortem. South African Police confirmed the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

A friend of Mathebula wrote on social media: "The teacher used to see her when she was a pupil after school and then after a gap began seeing her again at her home. She told a few friends she did it because he gave her lots of money for sex while Josh was at work but she thought he would never find out but in the end someone told him.

The message that Joshua Mathebula put on his Facebook read: "I was happy with this girl but Mr sehlapelwa destroyed us" (

"He was really mad on her and was planning to marry her and someone decided it was best he knew what was going on but nobody thought of anything like this."

"I was so happy with this girl but Mr S destroyed us," Mathebula said in a Facebook post. The post was accompanied with at least four pictures of him with who is assumed to be his girlfriend and six others - the post cannot be seen now as it appears to have been removed.

It is believed the dead woman's alleged lover was a teacher as Mogolo Secondary School. Mathebula worked as an Occupational Health and Safety Officer at a platinum mine in Burgerrsfort where the secondary school is based and is from Tzaneen.
