A 31-year-old woman was allegedly drunk behind the wheel when she drove the wrong way for at least seven miles on Interstate 93 Sunday morning in New Hampshire, officials said.

New Hampshire State Police said troopers were alerted around 5 a.m. that a car was heading north from the Massachusetts border in the southbound lanes of the highway.

“The initial caller placed the vehicle in the wrong direction near mile marker 6.8 in Windham,” State Police said. “Additional callers reported the vehicle was continuing to travel in the wrong direction.”

A trooper headed south from the Manchester area and was able to intercept the car in Londonderry at mile marker 13.6, State Police said.

The driver, Stephanie McPhee, 31, of Hampstead, was arrested on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated and reckless conduct with a deadly weapon.

It wasn’t clear if she had hired a lawyer who could speak on her behalf. She’s slated to appear in Derry District Court in May, officials said.
