Motorcyclist killed after colliding with car on S. Cedar Street in Lansing

LANSING — A motorcyclist was killed and another person was injured Tuesday afternoon in a crash on South Cedar Street.

A section of South Cedar was closed following the crash, which happened about 2:20 p.m. at the Elm Street intersection.

Lansing police said a 25-year-old man was unconsious when they arrived. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man was wearing a helmet, police said.

The motorcycle collided with a sedan driven by a 71-year-old woman, who was reported in stable condition at a hospital, police said.

Southbound Cedar was blocked off between Hazel and Elm streets, and northbound Cedar appeared to be closed at Elm.

A damaged motorcycle lay near the curb on southbound Cedar, and a sedan with heavy damage to the passenger side was stopped on Elm, just west of the intersection.

An accident investigation team was working at the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call Lansing police at (517) 483-4600.
