High School Roundup: Bloom-Carroll baseball tops Teays Valley, wins sixth straight game

Bloom-Carroll 6, Teays Valley 3: The Bulldogs won their sixth game in a row and evened their record to 7-7 after their Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win over the Vikings.

Carson Davis pitched four-plus innings to pick up the win and Markus Roberson pitched in relief for the save.

Circleville 6, Fairfield Union 4 (9 innings): The Falcons (5-8, 4-2) came up just short in their Mid-State League-Buckeye Division loss to the Tigers.

Brady Andrews pitched seven innings, giving up two earned runs while striking out nine. Ty Fisher, Chase Harmon and Kyle Wolfe all pitched in relief.

Pickerington Central 3, Lancaster 0: The Gales saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end after the Ohio Capital Conference loss to the Tigers.

Darren Ramsey pitched six-plus innings, allowing only two runs. Kathen Hutton led the Gales with two hits and Aiden Henson had two stolen bases.

Berne Union 4, Centerburg 2: The Rockets (7-2) took a 3-1 lead in the first inning and made it stand in a nonconference win over the Trojans.

Cade Pugh picked up the win on the mound, going four-plus innings, giving up two hits, one earned run and striking out five. Austin Snyder pitched in relief, not allowing a hit and striking out five to earn the save.

Clayton Moore went 3-for-3 and scored a run, Pugh was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Ethin Redinger had a hit and an RBI, and Quynn Duncan had a hit and two RBIs.

Softball

Lancaster 7, Pickerington Central 0: Reese Poston fired a two-hitter and struck out 15 in the Lady Gales’ Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division win over the Tigers.

Kendall Brown hit a solo home run in the first inning, and Lana Prince had a three-home run in the second inning.

Millerport 7, Fairfield Christian Academy 0: Kendyl Bonkowski got the win in the circle striking out 12, only allowing one hit and walking none.

The Lady Lakers had 10 hits in the game. Emma Raver went 3-for-3, including two doubles, Alexis Barch went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Bonkowski went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Veronica Rarey was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Logan Elm 4, Liberty Union 3: The Lions came up short in their Mid-State League-Buckeye Division loss to the Braves.

Payton Hochradel went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Emmalee Putnam had two hits and Macie Wollenberg went 2-for-3, including a double, an RBI and scored a run.

Suzie Shultz pitched six innings, giving up seven hits, two earned runs and struck out 12. Putnam pitched one inning in relief, not allowing a run.

Fairfield Christian Academy 30, Wellington 16: The Knights improved to 4-3 after their high-scoring win.

Caitlin Blair got the win in the circle and added three hits and six RBIs. Lylee Marcinko had four hits and seven RBIs, Katy Smeltzer had four hits and five RBIs, Nakayla Cash finished with four hits, Lauren Perretta and Sylvia Ross chipped in three hits each, while Lia Kitsmiller and Claire Young picked up their first hits of the season.

Tennis

Lancaster tennis to host meeting: There will be a meeting for all girls planning on playing tennis for Lancaster High School in the fall on May 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rod Ishida Tennis Courts at Fulton Field. The meeting is for both new and returning players and their parents. The meeting should last about an hour. There will be a booster meeting immediately following the parent meeting.
