FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (WJLA) — A tractor-trailer driver made a lucky escape Wednesday after the vehicle met a fiery fate on Interstate 270 in Frederick County, Maryland. All lanes were shut down as a result.
Maryland State Police officials said troopers responded to the area of southbound I-270 at Doctor Perry Road for a report of a vehicle fire. When crews with the Frederick County Fire & Rescue arrived at the scene, they found the tractor-trailer fully involved in flames.
Officials said the tractor-trailer driver was traveling south when another driver pulled up beside the tractor-trailer and motioned that the vehicle was on fire.
"The driver of the tractor-trailer then pulled over to the shoulder and at that point the tractor-trailer became fully engulfed in flames," MSP said.
No injuries were reported.
MSP said they do not believe any hazardous materials were on board the tractor-trailer. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
