A 63-year-old woman was found guilty earlier this week of the cold case murder of her husband.

A Michigan jury found Beverly McCallum guilty of second-degree murder and disinterment and mutilation of a body in connection with the 2002 killing of 37-year-old Robert Caraballo.

Caraballo’s charred remains were found in a blueberry field in Ottawa County on May 8, 2002.

He was partially stuffed inside a metal foot looker, according to the Lansing State Journal.

"It’s like a made-for-TV movie, is what it seemed like, especially as she took the stand and tried to give an explanation that didn’t make any sense at all," Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney Doug Lloyd said after the verdict, per the State Journal.

McCallum was one of three people charged in the death of Caraballo. McCallum’s daughter, Dineane Ducharme, was sentenced to life in prison in 2022 for her role in the slaying, according to the Associated Press.

Ducharme’s friend, Christopher McMillan, pleaded guilty in October 2019 to second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, per the AP.

McMillan was the star witness against the two women at their trials.

Caraballo was beaten with a hammer and suffocated in the basement of his home in Charlotte, Mich. His remains were discovered the following day by the owner of a blueberry field. However, he was not identified until 2015.

McCallum wanted Caraballo, who was newly released from federal prison, dead because he “was cramping her lifestyle," Lloyd argued during trial, per CBS News.

McCallum, who took the stand in her own defense, denied any involvement in the killing and blamed the murder on her daughter and McMillan, per CourtTV.

McCallum was in Rome, Italy, on Feb. 13, 2020 and extradited back to the U.S. in 2022.

“I feel that finally, after all these years, Robert can finally lay in peace in a sense that all three individuals who had been charged with this crime had been convicted. And his daughter ... now knows that justice has been done for her dad,” Lloyd tells PEOPLE.

McCallum's sentencing is scheduled for May 23. She faces a sentence of life in prison, per the State Journal.
