Fiery crash in Visalia leaves one dead

VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – One person is dead following a fiery early morning collision, Visalia Police say.

Shortly after midnight Sunday, officers were called to the area of Shannon Parkway and Mendonca Street for a report of a vehicle on fire.

They arrived to find that a vehicle had collided with a tree and was on fire.

Police say they, along with bystanders, worked together using fire extinguishers to put out the flames until the fire department arrived.

The driver, despite all efforts to help, died at the scene, officers say.

The Visalia Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the collision.
