SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Players always seem to be on the move in the modern era of college sports, and that includes players right here in Michiana.

Notre Dame freshman forward Carey Booth has officially committed to Illinois after entering the transfer portal earlier this month.

The 6′10″ forward was the highest ranked recruit in head coach Micah Shrewsberry’s first recruiting class. This season, he played in 33 games, starting in 19 while averaging 6.5 points and 4.3 rebounds in about 20 minutes per game.

While Booth had his struggles throughout the season, he was expected to take on a larger role next year, forming a young core alongside Markus Burton and Braeden Shrewsberry. But now, he’s headed to the defending Big Ten champions.
