Meet David Ortiz, Larry Bird when Dick’s House of Sport opens in Boston

Some major Boston sports stars will be present at the grand opening of Dick’s House of Sport later this week and fans will have the chance to meet them while shopping for new sporting goods.

Boston Red Sox champion David Ortiz will make appearances when the 100,000-square foot store opens in the Prudential Center on Friday, April 19. Ortiz will make an appearance from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Friday.

But the celebrity meet-and-greets won’t stop there. On Saturday, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish and Cedric Maxwell from the 1984 Boston Celtics will interact with fans from 12 p.m.-1:00 p.m.

Former Boston Bruins Center Patrice Bergeron will then stop by from 12 p.m.-1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Wristbands, which are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis, are required to attend the appearance and receive an autograph. Appearance times can change without notice.

The grand opening weekend will also be packed with a ribbon cutting ceremony, in-store events and giveaways. The first 100 adults in line each day with get Mystery Gift Cards as well.

Dick’s House of Sport is located at 760 Boylston St. in Boston.

The store will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. More information about the store and grand opening can be found online.
