Little shakeup in the Gadsden area high school baseball top 5 for week of April 17
There was little shakeup in the Gadsden Times top-5 outside of a Sardis and Boaz flip in the final regular season rankings of the 2024 season.
There will be a pause in the rankings until after the playoffs when a final top 10 will be released.
Here's the top-5 teams, regardless of class in the Gadsden area for results through April 16:

CHEROKEE COUNTY: Why Cherokee County's Carson Tittle battled back from torn ACL to return for baseball season
1. Etowah (18-12)
Last week: 1, 2-1 record
Why: The Blue Devils have rolled into the playoffs and will host a first round matchup starting on Thursday.
2. Sardis (16-11)
Last week: 4, 2-0 record
Why: The Lions earned two convincing wins over area rival Boaz, propelling them into the second spot in the rankings and a fourth straight area crown.
3. Boaz (19-8)
Last week: 2, 1-1
Why: Boaz was swept by Sardis but will have momentum entering the playoffs after a win over Brewer.
4. Collinsville (23-5)
Last week: 3, 2-1 record
Why: The Panthers fall through no fault of their own and had a strong showing at the Dekalb County tournament as the playoffs start.
5. Ashville (17-12-1)
Last week: 5, 3-1-1 record
Why: A historic regular season has the Bulldogs rolling into the playoffs with a lot of momentum.
Dropped from rankings: Westbrook Christian (12-9)
Other teams considered: Westbrook Christian (16-10), Southside (18-15), Coosa Christian (13-19)
