Theodore man dies in Alabama’s 7th fatal motorcycle crash this month

A 52-year-old Theodore man died in a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said Monday.

The accident occurred just after 12:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon on Alabama 193 about six miles north of the Dauphin Island city limits. A 2007 Suzuki GSX motorcycle driven by Michael W. Collins struck the rear of a 2023 Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by 72-year-old Franklin D. Harkins of Coden.

Collins was thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, ALEA said.

Collins’ death marks the seventh motorcycle-related fatality reported in Alabama since the start of April.

No other details were available as ALEA investigates the cause of the accident.
