Tuesday's results

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 11, DECATUR MACARTHUR 0 (5 innings): At Chatham, Bryce Murphy hammered a three-run home run in Glenwood’s seven-run second inning of a Central State Eight Conference victory.  

Murphy finished 2-for-3 and Rigley Hickman had an RBI triple and scored three runs. Cru Erickson ended 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Krayton Reincke belted a two-run homer in Glenwood’s three-run first inning.  

Pitcher Ryan Dunbar earned the win and gave up the only MacArthur hit. Dunbar struck out four and walked zero in two innings. Blake Willan and Andrew Wahlbrink combined to work three hitless innings and the two collaborated for eight strikeouts. 

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 18, DECATUR EISENHOWER 0 (4 innings): At Decatur, the Senators plated 12 runs in the top of the fourth inning to go from a comfortable lead to a blowout Central State Eight Conference win. 

SHS leadoff hitter Enrico Veach homered, doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored three times for the Senators. Ethan Rutter was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.  

Caleb Gillespie, hitting from the Senators’ No. 8 spot in the lineup, was 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice. Sam Hartl and Jude Romanotto each had a pair of RBIs. 

Jeffrey Sturm threw a complete-game no-hitter, struck out eight and walked three as SHS improved to 8-6 (overall, 4-1 CS8).  

PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 5, GILLESPIE 4: At Piasa, Gillespie had the tying run on third base with two outs in the top of the seventh inning but came up short in a South Central Conference loss. 

The Miners scored a run in the seventh to get within one and Tristen Wargo stole third. Jesse Berry, however, grounded out to end the game. Gillespie trailed 4-3 after Berry smacked a solo home run in the sixth. Southwestern scored an insurance run in the bottom half to go up 5-3 heading into the seventh.  

Jack Kaylor collected a run-scoring single and an RBI double for the Miners. Starting pitcher Bryce Buhs didn’t allow an earned run through six innings. He gave up five hits, striking out seven and walking four in the loss as Gillespie finished with five errors. 

NORTH MAC 10, VANDALIA 1: At Virden, Aiden Hatalla and Quinn Morrow each went 3-for-3 and knocked in three runs apiece as the Panthers won a South Central Conference contest. 

Hatalla also scored three times and stole a pair of bases while Morrow doubled, North Mac’s only extra-base hits on a 10-hit day.  

Cade McCready struck out five and allowed seven hits, two walks and one run in 5 1/3 innings pitched.  

North Mac improved to 6-7 (overall, 2-1 SCC).  

RAYMOND LINCOLNWOOD 17, BUNKER HILL 1 (5 innings): At Bunker Hill, the Lancers secured the victory with 10 runs in the fifth inning of a nonconference game.  

Jonah Elvidge provided Lincolnwood with three hits and five RBIs. Drew Gilpin had two hits and knocked in a pair of runs, while Mason Tryon went 2-for-3 with a double, scored twice and drove in a run. 

Winning pitcher Brodey VanHooser and reliever Tucker Armentrout combined on a two-hitter. VanHooser struck out seven over three innings and Armentrout fanned four in two innings. 

GREENVILLE 12, STAUNTON 2 (5 innings): At Greenville, Brady Gillen hit a solo home run and collected two of the Bulldogs’ five hits in their South Central Conference loss. 

Matthew Overby and Reese Bohlen each doubled for Staunton (5-15 overall, 2-2 SCC).  

Monday's results

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 5, NORMAL UNIVERSITY 0: At Normal, Cru Erickson furnished the go-ahead RBI single while Krayton Reincke followed with a 2-RBI double in the pivotal fifth inning for a nonconference win between a pair of Central State Eight Conference teams.  

Reincke had two hits. Joe Anderson scored twice on three walks while Rigley Hickman had a hit and two RBIs. 

Cam Appenzeller allowed just two hits and one walk with nine strikeouts in six innings for the win. Dylan Huff tossed the final inning and allowed one hit and one walk.  

ROCHESTER 10, SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 0: At Comstock Field, Tyson Binion sparked the Rockets with two hits in the leadoff spot and the Cyclones committed five errors in a nonconference meeting. 

Rochester's Jack Swaney had a double and two RBIs. Eli Carlson and Parker Lyons also had two RBIs. Jorey Myren doubled and scored twice.  

Ajay Runkel tallied the win in five innings. He gave up just two hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Breck Calvert closed out the last two innings with just two walks allowed.  

Drew Ward had a double for SHG. 

TAYLORVILLE 1, JACKSONVILLE 0 (8 innings): At Taylorville, Maxx Grieme supplied the walk-off RBI single following a double by Baron Odam, who finished with two of the team’s four hits. 

Colton Gatton went the distance with eight strikeouts. He gave up six hits and four walks in the shutout win.  

Nolan Peters had three hits for the Crimsons. Cody Fry struck out nine with just two hits and three walks allowed in a six-inning no-decision. 

JACKSONVILLE ROUTT 7, WINCHESTER WEST CENTRAL 4: At Winchester, Dalton Brown and Jace Lautemann each recorded two hits and the Rockets rallied to a win with six runs over the final two innings. 

Brown finished with an RBI and two runs while Nolan Turner homered. Isaac Long scored twice. 

Conrad Charpentier picked up the win in six innings. He struck out seven and gave up seven hits and one walk with four unearned runs. Eli Olson got the save with two strikeouts in the final frame. 

NEW BERLIN 5, QUINCY 1: At Quincy, Gannon Dodd went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run to catapult the Pretzels to a nonconference win.  

Lucas Bixby posted two hits with a run while getting the win on the mound. He gave up just three hits in three innings with five strikeouts.  

Reid Hepperly also struck out five in four innings with three hits, two walks and one run allowed. 

PLEASANT PLAINS 9, PAWNEE 1: At Plains, Grady Grisham rapped out two triples and finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs in the nonconference win.  

Charlie Severino produced two hits and two runs, including a double. Zach Ponce and Drew Green each had a hit and two RBIs. 

Cooper Schallenberg earned the win in six innings. He struck out five while allowing four hits, three walks and no earned runs. 

MOUNT PULASKI 9, RIVERTON 4: At Mount Pulaski, Luke Martin provided three hits and three RBIs en route to a nonconference win.  

Chance Payne had two hits and scored three runs. Aaron Volley tossed 2 2/3 innings and surrendered five hits and three runs to get the win. Evan Cooper tossed the final 4 1/3 innings and struck out six. 

LITCHFIELD 10, CARLINVILLE 1: At Carlinville, Max Leitschuh struck out 11 and the Purple Panthers jumped to a 5-0 lead after two innings en route to a South Central Conference win.  

Leitschuh gave up three hits, two walks and one run in a complete game. Ethan Saathoff doubled and finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs. Laidyn Jones also had two hits and Litchfield improved to 15-4 overall and 2-2 in the league. 

Noah Byots had two hits for Carlinville (2-12, 1-3 SCC). 

RUSHVILLE-INDUSTRY 10, ATHENS 7: At Athens, Rylan Reimolds dished out two hits with three RBIs and a run to lead the Rockets to a nonconference win. 

Wyatt Fowler tripled and doubled in the leadoff spot while Carter Fretueg had two hits with one RBI and two runs. Rushville jumped ahead with six runs in the opening frame. 

Zakk Edwards and Davis Ishmael each had two hits for Athens. 

SCIOTA WEST PRAIRIE 10, HAVANA 9 (8 innings): At Sciota, Brody Cordell hit the walk-off sacrifice fly with the bases loaded to lift West Prairie to a nonconference win.  

Matt Whitman led West Prairie with three hits, two RBIs and four runs, including two doubles. 

Havana's Jaron Boggs tripled and homered to end with three RBIs and three runs in the leadoff spot.  

NOKOMIS 12, BUNKER HILL 2 (6 innings): At Nokomis, five different players recorded two hits to pick up the win for NHS. 

Levi German, Saint Newman, Drake Taylor, Izaak Doyen and Ian Keller posted two hits apiece. Keller and Brenton Lyons each had a triple.  

Bryce Gillock gave up six hits, three walks and one earned run with nine strikeouts. 

PANA 10, MULBERRY GROVE 0 (6 innings): At Pana, Logan Sims and Eli Lindsay each contributed a hit and two RBIs for the nonconference win.  

Blayne Pope tossed three innings and struck out three without giving up any hits or walks. 

LIBERTY 10, BEARDSTOWN 0 (6 innings): Levi Hoener allowed just one hit and six walks while fanning nine in 5 2/3 innings for Liberty. He also had a double at the plate. 

Tanner Riddell doubled for the Tigers.
