A 16-year-old has been arrested after police found a firearm allegedly connected to the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy last month in San Bernardino, police said.

At about 3:30 p.m. on March 27, a Wednesday, officers received a report of a shooting involving juveniles near 13th Street and Acacia Avenue.

Ayden Rodriguez, 14, of San Bernardino was found suffering from a gunshot wound and died at a medical facility.

San Bernardino police served search warrants and on Wednesday, April 10, took the 16-year-old into custody on suspicion of killing Rodriguez, authorities said.

A firearm was found and “matched evidence recovered at the scene of the shooting,” officials said in a statement.

Capt. Nelson Carrington said the shooting’s motive remains part of the investigation.

Other details surrounding the investigation and arrest were not made public.
