The seeds of Gush were planted as far back as a decade ago, with lead guitarist Robby McCammon and bassist Rab Millar having been in different bands over the years.

Gush play the Deer's Head, Belfast, 27 April.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Rab: I know all the lyrics and can sing Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani perfectly, I once stopped a civil war breaking out in Dungannon, and I am a fully licensed commercial airline pilot.

How would you describe your music?

Chelsea: A fusion of alternative rock, grunge, punk rock, hard rock, indie rock, shoegaze, a pinch of pop and a hell of a lot of noise. An eclectic shock!

Who are your musical inspirations?

Robby: Tom Delonge from Blink-182 as I think a lot of the riffs he writes, as simple as they are, are really catchy. He just goes to show that sometimes less is more. Also, J Mascis from Dinosaur Jr., as I like the way he can play pretty simple rhythm parts around open chords and then melt your face off with a solo.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Darren: Busted in the Odyssey Arena in Belfast back in 2004. What a show! McFly opened for them and all!

What was the first record you ever bought?

Darren: I'm thinking it was like 2009, I bought a CD of Vitalogy by Pearl Jam.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Robby: I can't stop listening to TV Eye by The Stooges lately. The energy, that riff, and that guitar tone!

Favourite lyric of all time?

Chelsea: 'Yeah, my boyfriend's pretty cool, but he's not as cool as me' - Lana Del Rey.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Rab: Dilemma (Joe’s Song) by Gush.
