X Users Advance Suit Over Data Breach Affecting 200 Million

X Corp. must face a proposed class action alleging it negligently allowed criminals to gain access to the personal information of 200 million users of its platform that was exposed by a software glitch and ended up for sale on the dark web.

Plaintiffs Stephen Gerber, Eric Cohen, and Casey Weitzman alleged that a defect in the application programming interface for X, formerly known as Twitter, from June 2021-January 2022 allowed cybercriminals to obtain users’ usernames, display names, email addresses, phone numbers, and account-creation data.
