RHINEBECK, N.Y. — State police have identified the person who died after jumping off the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge as a 52-year-old Beekman woman.

At about 9:50 a.m. Monday, April 1, state police responded to the Kingston-Rhineciff Bridge for a report of a jumper.

“Good Samaritans” fishing near the bridge removed the woman from the water and attempted life-saving measures, state police said. She was taken to HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston and pronounced dead, police said.

This investigation remains ongoing and there are no signs of foul play at this time, according to a press release.

Trooper A.J. Hicks of Troop K said traffic on the bridge was slowed until about noon as search efforts were underway and to allow for a tow truck to remove the victim’s vehicle.
