A pedestrian in his 40s was killed when he was struck by a vehicle in Oceanside on Monday night, authorities reported Tuesday.

The Oceanside Police Department said the collision occurred at about 9 p.m. when a gold Nissan Murano heading east on Mission Avenue collided with the pedestrian who was crossing the road about 100 yards west of Ocean Puente.

Sgt. Clint Bussey said the pedestrian died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and was cooperative with law enforcement, the sergeant said. A second driver also ran over the pedestrian and remained at the scene.

The victim’s identity was being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

Anyone with information about the fatal collision was asked to call OPD Officer Ibrahim Serdah at 760-435-4769.
