One day after calling for legislation to address illegal immigration in Oklahoma, Attorney General Gentner Drummond joined a legal brief supporting Texas' Senate Bill 4.

The measure allows Texas law enforcement to arrest and deport migrants who cross the border illegally.

Drummond, along with 21 other state attorney generals argue the measure goes along with federal law.

However, the Biden administration and ACLU filed a lawsuit against SB 4, which was passed in Texas in 2023.

Drummond said, "Oklahoma suffers the consequences of our porous border every single day. A legal victory for Texas clears the way for local law enforcement in Oklahoma and throughout the country.”

A U.S. district court blocked the law, however, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Texas was free to enforce it during litigation.

This week, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit rescinded the order to allow enforcement.
