KINGSPORT — First Baptist Church of Kingsport will host the third Acts of Love Day of Community Service on Saturday, April 20.
This one-day missions event is designed to offer assistance to organizations in the greater Kingsport area who could use a helping hand.
Calling its members to service, First Baptist Kingsport volunteers will join with others to serve together at various sites. The event will benefit more than 25 local agencies, including food assistance agencies, shelter and housing providers, medical clinics, social support ministries, thrift store ministries and others.
“We are looking forward to working alongside these agencies in our area who serve others daily,” said Dr. Marvin Cameron, pastor of First Baptist Church Kingsport. “These projects provide an opportunity for us to respond to Christ’s call to love our neighbors as ourselves.”
The day will begin with a breakfast in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, and volunteer teams will then disperse to different project locations in the Kingsport community.
“In addition to our volunteers from First Baptist, we invite others to join us that day. This missions opportunity is open to anyone with a willing heart, hands, and feet.” said Cameron. “There are a variety of projects, with opportunities for all ages to serve and take part. There are opportunities for groups, family or friends, to work together on projects. There are many ways to help – from construction, painting, and cleaning tasks to serving meals, assisting in thrift store ministries, even putting together care kit packages for those in need.”
To view project locations, times and activities planned at each site and sign up to be part of Acts of Love Day of Community Service, go to www.fbckpt.org/acts-of-love. Signup is needed by April 5 to make arrangements for childcare, T-shirts and breakfast on April 20, but volunteers can sign up until the day prior to the event.
