HE HAS BEEN RELEASED ON BAIL AND ON I-95 IN HAMPTON. THIS SCENE IS CLEAR TONIGHT. AFTER THIS, A PICKUP TRUCK BURNING OUT OF CONTROL. LOOK AT YOUR SCREEN RIGHT NOW. THOSE FLAMES EVERYWHERE. AFTER STATE POLICE SAY IT HIT A CONCRETE SLAB AT THE TOLLS AND THEN WENT AIRBORNE, THE DRIVER, PATRICK JONES FROM SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE, WAS SERIOUSLY HURT. HIS PASSENGER IS UNDER 18 AND WASN’T INJURED. STATE POLICE SAY HE SUDDENLY CHANGED LANES AND THEN HIT A CONCRETE BARRIER NEAR NEXT TO A TOLL BOOTH. THE PERSON IN THE BOOTH WASN’T HURT. STATE TROOPERS RESPONDED TO THE TOLLS A LITTLE AFTER 4:00. THAT PICKUP WAS BURNING WHEN THEY GOT THERE, AND FIRE CREWS WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE TO PUT IT OUT. NEWS NINE HEARD FROM A MAN WHO SAW THE AFTERMATH AND WE COULD SEE THE SMOKE. AND IT WAS JUST HEAVY, THICK, BLACK SMOKE. YEAH. AND WHEN WE GOT UP THERE, FROM LOOKING ACROSS FROM EVEN THE SOUTHBOUND SIDE, WE WERE IN THE FAR RIGHT HAND LANE OF THE SOUTHBOUND SIDE. YOU COULD JUST SEE THE FLAMES WERE SHOOTING. A Maine man suffered serious injuries after the pickup truck he was driving crashed into a concrete barrier at the Hampton tolls and caught fire, according to police. New Hampshire State Police said around 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, troopers responded to the crash at the Hampton Toll Plaza. When troopers got there, they found a Ford F-150 pickup truck fully engulfed in flames, state police said. The child was also transported to the hospital as a precaution, authorities said.State police said before the crash, the pickup was approaching the tolls on the northbound side when the driver, suddenly changed lanes, then hit a concrete abutment next to a toll booth and went airborne before crashing and catching fire. A toll attendant was inside an adjacent booth but was not hurt, state police said. When troopers got there, they found a Ford F-150 pickup truck fully engulfed in flames, state police said.
