NEW LONDON — Flickering light from a nearby disco ball illuminated the faces of nearly a dozen dancers Friday evening as upbeat, cheerful Latin tunes echoed off the walls of the Little Theatre Auditorium.

For the first time in a few months, John Salgado Maldonado and Nicole Konz of Purpose Artisans held one of their introductory classes, Learn to Latin Dance. which have seen a good deal of success from folks wanting to learn basic Latin dance techniques all while having a little fun with a friend or partner.

Maldonado begins the class by slowly introducing a series of techniques before linking them all together to form a Latin dance that couples can then freely enjoy following the first hour of instruction. The learn-to-dance series has been in the works since 2020, with several dance genres being taught over the years.

The next session of Learn to Latin Dance will take place on Friday, May 10. For more information, visit littletheatreauditorium.org.
