‘Valley Fever Walk’ returns Saturday to CSUB

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Valley Fever Institute is holding its annual Valley Fever Walk at California State University, Bakersfield Saturday morning.

More patients are treated in Kern County for Valley fever than anywhere else in the world.

According to the Patient and Program Development Coordinator at the Valley Fever Institute, Rob Purdie, said this is an opportunity for community members to learn about Valley fever research, how to support individuals living with the illness while raising awareness.

Dogs are also vulnerable to getting Valley fever. “Animals including our pets can get Valley fever. The event will feature a pet area and Marley’s Mutts will also be a vendor at the fundraiser.”

If you want to participate in the walk, tickets can be purchased for $25 at ValleyFeverInstitute.com. You can also register at the event beginning at 8 a.m. at the CSUB Don Hart East Lawn.
