PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the northern coast of California at 10:07 a.m. Friday morning.

California’s closest location to the epicenter is Ferndale, just 47 miles away.

There was no tsunami threat, according to the National Weather Service.

This comes after an active two weeks of earthquakes from the Oregon coast to New Jersey and the devastating earthquake in Taiwan on April 6, 2024.
