BSO deputies ID man killed in Deerfield Beach hotel shooting

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies identified a man Friday who they say was killed in a shooting at a hotel in Deerfield Beach Wednesday.

According to BSO, the victim, who they identified as Bobby Abernathy II, was found in the parking lot of the Extended Stay America Premier Suites, at 1200 FAU Research Park Boulevard, with a gunshot wound around 1:20 a.m.

Carey Codd, a spokesman for BSO, confirmed that paramedics took Abernathy to Broward Health North, where he was later pronounced dead.

Following Abernathy’s death, authorities confirmed that BSO’s Homicide Unit had taken over the investigation.

Deputies have not released any information on the victim’s age or place of residence due to Marsy’s Law.

No arrests have been made at this time.
