EA's Motive Studios, which is working on a new Iron Man game, is now assisting DICE in developing the future of the Battlefield franchise. This doesn't mean the Iron Man game is taking a back seat, though, as Motive GM Patrick Klaus said in a blog post that the game remains a priority for the studio and that it recently passed a development milestone.

Klaus said "a group" of developers from Motive are now working with DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect to creating experiences that lead to the "full potential of Battlefield." Motive joining the Battlefield team comes not long after EA closed Battlefield co-developer Ridgeline Games.

Specifically, the lead developers on the 2023 Dead Space remake, Philippe Ducharme Roman and Campos-Oriola, are building a team within Motive to make "what's next for Battlefield" across multiplayer and single-player.

As for the Iron Man game, Klaus said the team at Motive has made "excellent progress" in 2024, reaching a "major internal milestone" and "laying a robust foundation for the journey ahead."

"Iron Man is an important priority for Motive, and I'm very proud of the work we've accomplished so far," Klaus said.

In another blog post, Battlefield GM Byron Beede said Battlefield 2042's Season 7, which released in March, will be the game's final season. DICE will continue to support the game with in-game challenges, events, modes, and ongoing maintenance, but "we are moving away from delivering official seasons," Beede said.

"We know this news may be disappointing. However, as we looked at what the future of the series required, it became clear it was time for us to shift our resources and focus to be fully dedicated to what comes next," he said.

Battlefield 2042 had a difficult launch in November 2021, but it was still the No. 5 best-selling game of that year in the US. EA blamed working from home, among other things, for contributing to Battlefield 2042's rocky launch.
