WATERLOO — Authorities are investigating the death of a Waterloo man whose body was found outside a closed auto shop over the weekend.
Police identified the deceased as 27-year-old London Topaz Moore. An autopsy to determine the official cause of death is scheduled for Tuesday.
Residents found the body near a damaged Jeep Cherokee parked in the gravel lot next to the former Corky’s Car Care, 453 W. Parker St., around 1 p.m. Saturday when they went to remove items from a vehicle parked at the location.
“We saw the firetruck come, and we went back there, and there was a body laying back there. And then they covered it up with a white sheet,” said one woman who lives nearby.
Waterloo police closed off the shop’s parking lot while investigators gathered evidence.
Neighbors said Corky’s Car Care has been closed for awhile. The property is currently up for sale, according to signs posted on the building.
