PALATKA, Fla. — A driver who stopped to take wildlife photos in Palatka found a dead body floating in a creek Monday, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
The body was found in the area of State Road 19 South and Caravelle Farms Road in an unincorporated area of Palatka.
The body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy. The medical examiner was able to identify the deceased.
At this time, PCSO is only revealing that the deceased was an elderly woman. They are keeping her identity from the public until next of kin are notified.
The investigation is ongoing; the cause and manner of death were undetermined.
