Air India temporarily suspends flights to Israel

Air India on April 14 decided to temporarily suspend flights to Tel Aviv amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.

An official said the direct flights between Delhi and Tel Aviv will be suspended for now.

Air India operates four weekly flights between the national capital and Israeli city.

The Tata group-owned carrier recommenced services to Tel Aviv on March 3 after a gap of nearly five months.

Air India suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv, starting October 7, 2023, in the wake of the Hamas attack on the Israeli city.

Response will be much larger if Israel retaliates, Iran armed forces chief warns

Iran warned Israel of a larger attack on its territory if it retaliates against Tehran’s overnight drone and missile attack, adding that Washington has been warned not to back Israeli military action.

“Our response will be much larger than tonight’s military action if Israel retaliates against Iran,” armed forces chief of staff Maj Gen Mohammad Bagheri told Iranian state TV.

He said that Tehran warned Washington that any backing of Israeli retaliation would result in US bases being targeted.

The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, also warned Tehran would retaliate against any Israeli attack on its interests, officials or citizens.

Austrian Airlines suspends flights to Tel Aviv, Erbil and Amman

Austrian airlines said on Sunday it has suspended all its flights to Tel Aviv, Erbil and Amman with immediate effect following an escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel.

The suspension will last until April 15.

Austrian Airlines had already announced it was suspending flights to Tehran until April 18.

“Long-haul routes through the Middle East will also be rerouted accordingly due to various airspace closures,” the airline said in a statement.

Tel Aviv share indexes edge lower after Iran attack on Israel

According to The Times Of Israel, Israeli attacks are reported by Lebanese media agencies close to the village of Nabi Chit in the northeastern Lebanon’s Baalbek District.

Social media footage of a targeted place shows smoke billowing from it. Baalbek is located around 100 kilometres from the Israeli border and has previously been described as a Hezbollah stronghold.
