ST. LOUIS — Flags are at half staff at Missouri police stations today to honor a police chief who passed away earlier this month. Governor Mike Parson has declared that U.S. and Missouri flags will be flown at half-staff at all government buildings in Lafayette County and police stations across Missouri on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. This is to honor the late Chief Steven A. Singer of the Lake Lafayette Police Department.

Chief Singer, who was 48 years old, died from a heart attack on April 8 after responding to a trespassing call near Lake Lafayette’s dam. Singer had served as both a deputy at the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and as chief of the Lake Lafayette Police Department since June 2004.

The flags at half-staff will coincide with the day of Chief Singer’s memorial service, marking respect and mourning for his service and contributions to the community.
