Fundraiser set up for family of East Texas father killed during alleged drunk driving crash

Marcos Sanchez leaves behind his wife and two kids, an 8-year-old and a 2-year-old, according to the online fundraiser.

PALESTINE, Texas — A GoFundMe has set up to help the family of an East Texas father who was killed after he was struck by an alleged drunk driver.

Marcos Sanchez, 51, of Palestine, was taking the trash from his home to the curb after midnight Friday when police say he was hit by Dillon Wayne Fogle's truck in the 800 block of Crockett Road. Sanchez passed away at the scene of the crash.

Fogle, 39, of Elkhart, has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle and unlawful carry of a weapon, according to the Palestine Police Department

Sanchez leaves behind his wife and two kids, an 8-year-old and an 2-year-old, according to the online fundraiser.

"He was a lovely man that loved and worked hard for his family. This GoFundMe is made in efforts to support his family in this time of need. Please find it in your heart to donate if you are able, and share it," the description reads.

Police said Fogle had the smell of alcohol emitting from his breath and officers found he was intoxicated. An investigation showed Fogle was going north when he crossed into oncoming traffic and left the roadway on the west side of the road. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
