WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - Wichita Falls citizen Whitney Flack announced her candidacy for city council today in Hamilton Park, the park she had a hand in improving.

Flack is campaigning for the District 1 spot on the council, currently occupied by Michael Smith who has met his term limit. Flack’s platform is built upon job growth, public safety, and responsive city government.

Flack said the decision to campaign was a lengthy process.

”[It took] a lot of prayer and thought. We decided as a family that we were ready to do this and thought that it would also be a pretty good example to our family, to our young kids about how to be involved in your city,” Flack said.

A wife and mother of four, Flack played an integral role in implementing the splash pad and pavilion at Hamilton Park for local children to have a free place to play in the water during the summer. She did this during her involvement with the Wichita Falls Medical Alliance, for whom she is a former president and current member.

As a former high school teacher and now Christ Academy board member, education is of great importance to her. Her kids and their education serve to connect her to the community.

Flack is originally from Weatherford, Texas and she, her husband and their kids are members of First Presbyterian Church.
