Omaha teacher accused of stealing $76k from education nonprofit
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - An Omaha Public Schools teacher appeared in court Thursday on accusations that she stole from an education nonprofit.
Angela Wolfe, 42, is charged with theft by unlawful taking and second-degree forgery, both exceeding $5,000 — which are felonies.
The Nebraska High School Press Association alleged in court documents that Wolfe stole around $76,000 while managing its accounts as the organization’s treasurer for six years, starting in 2018.
Douglas County Sheriff’s investigators say Wolfe forged checks and used the NHSPA debit card for several unauthorized transactions, which included ATM withdrawals and purchases of groceries, food delivery, veterinary bills, online shopping, and even streaming service subscriptions.
Investigators say they also discovered a “commingling” of money between Wolfe’s personal bank account of that of the NHSPA.
Wolfe is on leave from her position at OPS.
