Carlisle Fire & Rescue Services reported that crews were on the scene of an apartment building fire for about four hours Sunday.
The fire department reported it was dispatched at 5:44 p.m. for a building fire at Northside Village Apartments in Carlisle. The department reported that smoke and fire was visible at the time of their arrival.
In a news release Monday, the Carlisle Fire Department said arriving units found fire on the second-floor patio area, and they requested an additional alarm for more resources from area fire companies.
While fire crews worked on the exterior fire with an aerial ladder and hose lines at the area of origin, sprinklers in the apartment building helped control the fire and prevented it from advancing into the hallways, the fire department said.
Though the fire crews were on the scene for four hours, the fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes.

About 130 residents were evacuated from the apartment building. Residents who were in the parking lot at the time pulled the fire alarm and alerted neighbors to the fire. One resident was injured while removing necessities after the scene was declared safe. No first responders were injured.
About 50 of those evacuated needed temporary housing provided by the American Red Cross, and Homewood Suites allowed the fire department to use it for temporary shelter of residents.
"A restoration company is on scene conducting cleanup of water and smoke damage," the fire department reported Monday morning. "It is unknown at this time how long residents will be displaced."
The fire department and police department said the fire was accidental following an investigation, but they did not provide any further details about what caused it.
