Police seek to identify man who accidentally fired gun at Gastonia Chuck E. Cheese

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Gastonia Police Department released an image on Tuesday in connection to an accidental shooting inside a local Chuck E. Cheese.

Authorities said they’re seeking to identify the man shown on the left side of the photo. They said the man accidentally fired his gun from his pocket inside the Chuck E. Cheese shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14. No injuries were reported in the shooting.

“Detectives want to talk to these two people seen in security footage,” Gastonia Police said on Tuesday. “Detectives are hoping to clear up the circumstances of how this event happened.”

A spokesperson with Chuck E. Cheese released the following statement this week:

We are aware of the incident that occurred on Sunday, April 14 in Gastonia, North Carolina where a guest accidentally discharged a firearm that was in his jacket, as he was leaving the location with his family. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident. The store manager on the site acted quickly, followed our proper safety procedures and contained the incident until law enforcement officers arrived. The local police are investigating the matter and any further questions should be addressed to them.
