Man sentenced to 18 years for 2021 murder in Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the 2021 murder of a man in southeast Austin, according to court documents.

Jacovi Sattiewhite, 21, was sentenced to 18 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, including 779 days of jail credit, on March 28. He pleaded guilty to murder in February, documents states.

In February 2021, Austin police responded to Willow Creek Drive in southeast Austin and found a man who appeared to have been shot in a car. The victim was later identified as Ramon Munoz.

At the time, police said three suspects left the scene, and they were believed to be committing armed robberies in the area.

Sattiewhite was arrested in February 2022 by the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force, according to police.
