GROUNDS BOTH TIMES AND DIDN’T FIND ANYTHING. FRIENDS OF A MAN KILLED BY A GARBAGE TRUCK ARE HONORING HIS MEMORY AND REMEMBERING HIS IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY. POLICE SAY THE TRUCK HIT 34 YEAR OLD JAKE ZAPPA IN THE BURLINGTON PARKING LOT OF THE PIZZA RANCH MONDAY, AS IT WAS BACKING UP, ZAPPA WAS AN EMPLOYEE AT THE RESTAURANT. ZAPPA ALSO WORKED WITH THE OUTSKIRTS THEATER COMPANY IN WAUKESHA. WORKERS AT THE THEATER SAY ZAPPA JOINED THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND HELPED SELECT THE PLAYS THEY PUT ON. HE ALSO WORKED WITH MAKE-A-WISH USING THE THEATER COMPANY TO MAKE ONE GIRL’S DREAM TO HAVE A BOAT COME TRUE. HE WAS PART OF THIS TEAM THAT WAS DOING THE BIG LIKE GRAND CEREMONY GIFT PART OF IT, AND HE REACHED OUT AND WAS LIKE, WOULD YOU GUYS COME AND LIKE, BRING ACTORS THAT ARE SAILORS AND HELP US BUILD A SHIP? AND, UM, SO WE DID THAT WITH HIM AND IT WAS SO IT WAS SO COOL AND, YOU KNOW, FULFILLING, REWARDING AND GIVING BACK. AND SO WE STARTED DOING A LOT OF THOSE EVENTS WITH HIM. AND OUTSKIRTS IS DEDICATING ITS UPCOMING PERFORMANCE TO ZAPPA, BURLINGTON POLICE SAY THEY ARE NOT CONSIDERIN

The friend of a man hit and killed by a garbage truck is honoring his memory and remembering his impact on the community.Burlington Police Department said a garbage truck was backing up Monday morning in the Pizza Ranch parking lot, hitting 34-year-old Jake Zappa of Waukesha. Zappa worked at the restaurant and was given the company's Community Impact Award in June 2022 for providing free meals for first responders after the Waukesha Christmas Parade attack in Nov. 2021.Zappa was on the board of directors with Outskirts Theatre Company and helped select the productions they put on.Founder of the group, Ryan Rehak, said Zappa also worked with Make-A-Wish using the theatre company to make a girl's dream to have a boat come true."He was part of this team that was doing the big grand ceremony gift part of it. He reached out and asked 'Would you bring actors that are sailors? And help us build a ship.' So we did that with him and it was so cool, so fulfilling and rewarding giving back so we started doing a lot of those events with him," said Rehak.Outskirts is dedicating its upcoming performances of "La Cage Aux Folles" to Zappa.
