Tyler Jones Finishes Tied For 4th At Mountaineer Invitational

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Marshall senior Tyler Jones finished at 7-under par for the tournament to earn a T-4 finish at the Mountaineer Intercollegiate at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

Jones and Ryan Bilby each finished in the top-10, which helped lead Marshall to a second-place finish behind the host Mountaineers in the tournament.

"I'm really happy with the way we played this week," Marshall Men's Golf coach Matt Grobe said. "It's one of the best tournaments that we play in each year and I was really happy with our finish."

Jones earned his third round of par or better at Pete Dye on Tuesday, knocking in four birdies to finish at Even-par 72. He had three birdies on the front side as he stayed near the top of the leaderboard all afternoon.

Jones led the entire tournament in birdies during the week with 17.

Bilby overcame a bogey on the second hole of his day by notching birdies on four of his next eight holes, which moved him quickly up the leaderboard. In all, Bilby had five birdies on the day and finished in sole possession of 9^th place.

For the second time during the tournament, Joseph Kalaskey finished in the red as well, carding a 1-under par 71 with three birdies on the day to also earn a top-25 finish.

"Tyler and Bilby played great with both finishing in the top-10 and it was great to see Joseph with two rounds under par this week," Grobe said. "We hope that we can take this momentum to the conference championship next week."

Marshall's second-place finish came with the Herd out-performing fellow Sun Belt rivals James Madison (4^th place) and Appalachian State (8^th place), which gives the Herd some momentum heading into next week's Sun Belt Championships in Madison, Miss.
