A tragic work incident occurred on Monday when an adult male construction worker was killed after being trapped beneath a heavy forklift at a Bel Air job site. The accident happened around 1:00 PM at 970 N Moraga Drive, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The LAFD rescue units, including specially trained Urban Search & Rescue teams, swiftly arrived on the scene but their efforts to save the male worker proved futile. An update provided by the department stated that despite their quick response, the victim was beyond medical help. The incident has now been classified as an industrial fatality and the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene. "Despite the quick response of LAFD crews, including those specially trained, certified and equipped for Urban Search & Rescue operations, the adult male worker...proved beyond medical help," as per the Los Angeles Fire Department.

No other injuries were reported during the incident. The fallen forklift was reported to have been carrying steel rebar before it toppled over onto the worker. Emergency services continued their work on site, stabilizing the area to prevent any further accidents and preparing to assist the Medical Examiner with the recovery of the body.

Investigations into how the forklift came to fall are expected to be conducted by California's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal-OSHA). Details about the investigation or possible causes for the accident were not immediately available. Representatives for Cal-OSHA, as well as the Medical Examiner, have been appointed for media inquiries. The construction site where the incident occurred falls within Council District 5 as reported by the LAFD.
