A child was killed Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 6 in Carbon County.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Andrew Battenfield said that this crash occurred around 5 a.m. on April 7 at milepost 223.5 of Highway 6, just west of Indian Canyon.

A red pickup truck hauling an empty flatbed was being driven westbound by a man who had his six-year-old daughter in a car seat behind the front passenger's seat.

Sgt. Battenfield said the pickup drifted into the eastbound lane and was struck by an oncoming semi-truck. Both vehicle's passenger sides were impacted.

The six-year-old died on the scene.

Both the driver of the pickup and the semi were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers said that drowsy driving is suspected to be the cause of the crash.

Highway 6 was shut down in both directions until around 10 a.m.
