Woman ID’d in fatal Dauphin County I-81 crash

A Harrisburg woman who died after being involved in a crash on Interstate 81 in Dauphin County last week has been identified.

Sharon M. Bentler, 51, died of multiple traumatic injuries on Sunday at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, according to Diane McNaughton, the Dauphin County press secretary.

The death was labeled accidental, McNaughton said. Bentler was listed as a passenger in the vehicle, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said the crash took place on April 3 at 2:57 p.m. near mile marker 78.5 on I-81 in East Hanover Township when James Soto, 54, of Harrisburg, lost control of his Chevrolet and veered off the road while traveling in the right lane going north.

The vehicle then traveled up through a grassy embankment and struck a tree, police said.

Police said the crash caused both occupants to be ejected out of the vehicle, which rolled over twice before coming to a stop. They were taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center after the crash, according to police.

Police said Soto suffered a suspected serious injury, but no further information on his condition or injuries is available.
