The long Easter weekend brought with it two bank holidays, one of which falls today (Easter Monday).

We have now had three of this year's bank holidays - a time when lots of businesses close or operate with reduced hours, and many people get the day off work. Schools also close on bank holidays.

And there are still many more to come, with the next one falling in just five weeks time.

Knowing ahead of time the bank holidays taking place in the UK is a good way to plan time off and use the dates to your advantage. Bank holidays may also affect how and when your benefits are paid.

These are all the remaining bank holidays for 2024:

  • Monday, May 6 - Early May bank holiday
  • Monday, May 27 - Spring bank holiday
  • Monday, August 26 - Summer bank holiday
  • Wednesday, December 25 - Christmas Day
  • Thursday, December 26 - Boxing Day

Looking ahead to 2025, there are eight bank holidays then. These are Wednesday, January 1, Friday, April 18, Monday, April 21, Monday, May 5, Monday, May 26, Monday, August 25, Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26.
