Orlando Magic officially playoff bound for the first time since 2020
SPONSORED BY MULLINAX FORD. THE MAGIC ARE OFFICIALLY PLAYOFF BOUND. WELCOME BACK EVERYBODY. I’M KRISTEN LAGO WESH TWO SPORTS IN DOWNTOWN ORLANDO TONIGHT. WE’RE AFTER DROPPING THREE STRAIGHT GAMES. THE MAGIC HAD WON FINAL OPPORTUNITY. ONE LAST CHANCE BACK HERE AT THE KIA CENTER TO LOCK UP A SPOT IN THE TOP SIX OF THE EASTERN CONFERENCE. AND WELL, IN THE BIGGEST OF MOMENTS, THEY BROUGHT THAT MAGIC BACK TO THE COURT. LOOKING TO FINISH OUT THE REGULAR SEASON ON A HIGH NOTE. INSIDE THE KIA CENTER. IN FRONT OF THOSE HOME FANS. BUT THE MAGIC THEY FELL BEHIND EARLY ON. PAOLO BANCHERO, THOUGH, WILL SLAM THIS ONE. HOME MAGIC STILL DOWN SEVEN AT THAT POINT IN THE GAME. JUST BEFORE THE HALF, FRANZ WAGNER PUTS BROOK LOPEZ ON SKATES, FINISHES WITH THE REVERSE. ORLANDO LED BY FIVE AT THE HALF. THE SECOND HALF ALL MAGIC FRANZ WITH THE STEAL AND THE DUNK AT THE OTHER END. GOOD DEFENSE LEADING TO SOME GOOD OFFENSE. ORLANDO WILL RUN AWAY WITH IT AND AVOID THE PLAY IN TOURNAMENT, BREATHING A SIGH OF RELIEF, THE MAGIC PLAYOFF BOUND HEAD COACH JAMAHL MOSLEY SO PROUD OF THIS TEAM’S MATURITY AND FOCUS LEVEL COMING INTO A WIN AND IN SITUATION N BECAUSE OF THE EXPERIENCE WE’VE BEEN THROUGH THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WHERE WE MAY HAVE GOTTEN AWAY FROM OURSELVES AND THE THINGS THAT WE’VE DONE AND I DON’T THINK THEY DID THAT TONIGHT. I THOUGHT THEY WERE POISED. I THOUGHT THEY WERE PATIENT. I THOUGHT THEY DID A GREAT JOB OF UNDERSTANDING THE MOMENT. FOR US BEING SUCH A YOUNG TEAM, IT REALLY DOES SPEAK TO OUR MATURITY, ESPECIALLY WITH, YOU KNOW, THE LAST FEW GAMES THAT WE’VE HAD, YOU KNOW, WE’VE STRUGGLED AND SO TO WHEN THE REALLY THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD AND EVERYTHING IS HANGING ON THIS GAME ABOUT WHERE WE’RE GOING TO SEED AND ALL THE DIFFERENT STUFF FOR US TO RESPOND IN THIS WAY. AFTER GOING TO MILWAUKEE AND LOSING, HAVING A TOUGH LOSS, UM, TO DO THIS, IT REALLY SPEAKS TO WHO THIS TEAM IS TODAY. REALLY JUST AN EXCLAMATION POINT ON A REGULAR SEASON THAT DOES SPEAK VOLUMES FOR HOW MUCH THIS TEAM HAS GROWN UNDER JAMAL MOSLEY, IT’S SPECIAL FOR THE ENTIRE GROUP, BUT ESPECIALLY FOR PLAYERS LIKE WENDELL CARTER JR AND JALEN SUGGS, WHO’VE BEEN WITH COACH MOSS THROUGH THIS ENTIRE REBUILD. THEY TOLD ME POSTGAME THAT TO SEE THIS COME FROM FRUITION. YES, THEY BELIEVED FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON, BUT TO DO IT IN THIS WAY AT HOME IN FRONT OF THEIR FANS, IT WAS SPECIAL. THIS IS A GROUP AND WE ALL BELIEVED IT FROM DAY ONE. AND UM, TO FINALLY SEE IT ALL KIND OF COME TOGETHER AND, YOU KNOW, WITH THE LAST GAME BEING VERY IMPORTANT TO US PULLING IT OUT LIKE THE WAY WE DID, YOU KNOW, I’M JUST, YOU KNOW, EXCITED JUST TO BE A PART OF THIS GROUP. CAN’T STOP SMILING. I DON’T THINK I HAVE STOPPED SMILING, UH, SINCE ABOUT SIX MINUTE MARK. YOU KNOW, WHEN THEY TOOK EVERYBODY OUT AND KIND OF KNEW THAT IT WAS IT. AND WE WERE GOING. I HAVEN’T STOPPED SMILING. I’M JUST SO HAPPY WITH THE REGULAR SEASON COMING TO A CLOSE TODAY. WE WANT TO BRING YOU A LOOK AT THE FINAL EASTERN CONFERENCE STANDINGS. THE CELTICS COMING IN TODAY ALREADY HAVING LOCKED THEMSELVES INTO THE ONE SPOT WITH THE LOSS. THE BUCKS FALLING TO THREE. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY FOR YOU ORLANDO FANS, LOOK AT THE FOUR AND FIVE ORLANDO SET TO FACE CLEVELAND IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS. A BEST OF SEVEN SERIES BEGINNING THIS WEEKEND. THE MAGIC, WITH A MUCH NEEDED OFF DAY TOMORROW TO BOTH REST AND RECOVER AND YES, CELEBRATE THIS SPECIAL MOMENT. THEY SAID THEY’RE GOING TO ENJOY IT, BUT THE CONSENSUS IN THE LOCKER ROOM, THEY’RE NOT DON

The Magic are officially playoff-bound for the first time since the NBA bubble back in 2020.After dropping three straight games on the road, the Magic returned to the Kia Center on Sunday with one final opportunity to lock up a top-six seed in the Eastern Conference. It was a win-and-in situation against the Milwaukee Bucks, and in the biggest of moments, this young Magic team delivered.“I’m so proud,” head coach Jamahl Mosely said after the Magic’s 25-point win. “There’s not really a lot of words for this group. just team that has been up and down, battled back, so resilient, they showed it all.”“For us to respond in this way after going to Milwaukee and having a tough loss,” said center Jonathan Isaac. “To do this, it speaks to who this team is and our ability to put it together when it matters.”The Magic were battling back after falling behind in the first quarter, but had a huge performance from Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero – who combined for 51 points on the day. Sunday, the exclamation point to a regular season that speaks volumes to how much the franchise has grown under Coach Mosely. Entering the playoffs, Orlando sits at the five seed, just one year removed from finishing 13th in the Eastern Conference. Their 47 wins are also the most for the Magic in over a decade. It’s been a special journey for the entire roster, but especially for players like Wendell Carter Jr. and Jalen Suggs, who have been in the City Beautiful since the rebuild began three years ago.“I can’t stop smiling, I don’t think I have stopped smiling since the six-minute mark when they took us out and it really sank in,” Suggs said. “This is something that not a lot of people thought was possible, but the belief we had to see it come to fruition, we’re enjoying it.”“It’s super special,” Carter Jr. said. “Pulling it out the way we did, I’m excited to be part of this group.”The Magic will now get ready to face the Cleveland Cavaliers in Round One of the NBA Playoffs with tip off from Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Saturday.
