8 April 2024 - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is launching the Olympic AI Agenda on Friday 19 April (from 11:00 BST) at London’s Lee Valley VeloPark, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The Olympic AI Agenda is the third in a trilogy of strategy documents launched under Thomas Bach’s presidency, and presents the envisioned impact that artificial intelligence can deliver for sport. It will also set out how the IOC, as the leader of the Olympic Movement, intends to lead on the global implementation of AI within sport. This follows the groundbreaking Olympic Agenda 2020 and Olympic Agenda 2020+5 strategies, which have served as roadmaps for the Olympic Movement since 2014.
The event will see a number of keynote speakers discuss how the Olympic AI Agenda could be deployed for the benefit of the Olympic Movement and wider sporting world through a variety of practical implementation examples. Some of the attendees include:
- Thomas Bach, Olympic champion in fencing, IOC President
- Christoph Schell, Executive Vice President Intel, and Lindsey Vonn, Olympic champion in skiing, who will discuss how AI could be leveraged for talent identification in sport.
- Alain Zobrist, CEO of Swiss Timing, and Nadia Comaneci, five-time Olympic champion gymnast and recipient of the famous “perfect 10”, in a discussion on the potential impact of AI on refereeing and judging.
- IOC Olympic Games Executive Director Christophe Dubi, who will be in conversation with a Deloitte representative on AI’s role in optimising the execution of the Olympic Games.
- Amit Joshi, Professor of AI, Analytics and Marketing Strategy at IMD, who will share experiences and insights from the AI experts on the IOC’s Working Group
- Yiannis Exarchos, CEO of Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), Molly Solomon Executive Producer & President, NBC Olympics Production, and representatives from Alibaba, will address how AI technologies are set to transform the broadcasting experience at Paris 2024.
