Unemployment Dips in March
While the U.S. unemployment rate hit a two-year high of 3.9% in February, the share of Americans out of work or actively seeking a job slipped to 3.8%, or about 6.4 million, in March.
This is in line with estimates from economists surveyed by FactSet, who expected the unemployment rate to have moderated to 3.8% in March.
Friday’s data marks 25 straight months of unemployment below 4%, a trend unseen in the labor market since the 1960s, according to Gene Goldman, chief investment officer for Cetera.
