ST. GEORGE — Two teens were reportedly stabbed after a fight broke out during a dance party that was attended by hundreds of teenagers and young people at a venue in St. George over the weekend.
On Friday, St. George Police officers were dispatched shortly before 10:30 p.m. to an incident reported at a dance party at a fitness center on West 1600 South. Police arrived to find two teens who suffered stab wounds, both of whom were transported to St. George Regional Hospital.
The private event, called “Euphoria,” was hosted by “YNG+DMB,” witnesses told St. George News.
During the party, a fight between two teens broke out and then escalated, which is when the two victims, who may or may not have been involved in the physical altercation, suffered stab wounds near the chest area.
St. George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell told St. George News hundreds of teens attended the event, and investigators are still going through the list of potential witnesses and have many more who need to be interviewed.
Because of that, she said, they are still in the early stages of a complex investigation so there are limited details as to what happened.
Additionally, the investigation involves minors, so instead of releasing preliminary information that could later turn out to be inaccurate as the investigation progresses, she said no further information will be released until the investigation is completed.
Both boys, who reportedly sustained punctured lungs and rib injuries, were released from the hospital on Sunday and are recuperating at home, a family member of one of the boys told St. George News on Monday.
Mitchell said detectives are seeking the public’s help and asked that anyone who may have information or videos and can assist in the investigation call the St. George Police Department at 435-627-4300.
