BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Seven people were inducted into the Louisiana Political Hall of Fame over the weekend, including the state’s former governor.

Officials announced former Gov. John Bel Edwards, former Sen. Louis Lambert, former State Rep. Joe Delpit, former Chair of the Board of Regents Richard Lipsey, former President of the LA Chemical Association Dan Borne’, radio journalist and WAFB’s political analyst Jim Engster, and former newspaper reporter Ed Anderson were inducted as new members into the Louisiana Political Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Baton Rouge.

“It’s an honor to be in this class and to be among 243 of the luminaries in Louisiana politics, and we’re talking about journalists and politicos and prognosticators and pundits. I’ve never run for office so I am honored to be included,” said Engster.

The Carter family was announced as this year’s winner of the Family of Officeholders Award.

The Louisiana Political Museum in Winnfield holds the ceremony each year.
