Dolly Parton Lands Her First Hit On 7 Billboard Charts

Following

Throughout her career, Dolly Parton has managed some pretty incredible feats on the Billboard charts. She’s landed more than 100 hits throughout her decades as a star, and she’s reached dozens of different rankings. Thanks to just one new song, she ups the total number of lists she’s appeared on by a huge number.

This week, Parton lands her first hit on seven different Billboard charts — thanks to the tune “Tyrant,” her collaboration with Beyoncé. Almost every ranking that song reaches marks a first for the country superstar.

Perhaps most surprisingly, “Tyrant” gives Parton her first placement on the Streaming Songs chart. That tally ranks the most-streamed cuts in America each week, regardless of genre. Somehow, Parton has never landed a proper streaming smash–until now, as “Tyrant” starts at No. 37.

The other half-dozen tallies that Parton reaches for the first time are all focused on one genre: R&B. Billboard has classified “Tyrant” as both a country and R&B tune, so it appears on lists that cater only to those two styles of music.

Of the six Billboard charts that Parton debuts on, “Tyrant” appears lowest on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally. That’s the most competitive and most all-encompassing of all the lists that show which rap, hip-hop, and R&B tunes America is consuming. On that roster, the starry collaboration launches at No. 18.

The only other remaining ranking that sees Parton fail to reach the top 10 is the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart. On that streaming-only list, she and Beyoncé push their track to No. 15.

“Tyrant” is an immediate top 10 smash on four other tallies. It marks not only the first placement, but first appearance inside the highest tier for Parton on all of the following rosters: Hot R&B Songs (No. 5), R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales (No. 5), R&B Streaming Songs (No. 3) and R&B Digital Song Sales (No. 2).

“Tyrant” also makes a home on four other Billboard charts, though not ones that Parton is unfamiliar with. The Cowboy Carter cut enters the Hot 100 just below the top 40 region at No. 44. It brings Parton back to that most important songs ranking for the first time in nearly 20 years.

The same track also debuts on the Hot Country Songs, Country Streaming Songs, and Country Digital Song Sales charts. Parton is already one of the most successful artists of all time on some of those, as she’s been a legend in the country world for more than half a century.
