KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WKRC) - A goat was rescued by firefighters and staff members from an animal shelter after it became stuck on the ledge of a bridge.

According to KC Pet Project, a nonprofit that operates animal shelters and handles the city's animal control services, "Chug" the goat escaped from his adopted family after jumping their property's fence. KC Pet Project wrote that Chug had once been in the organization's care back in March before he was adopted by the family.

KSHB reported that the goat was later discovered on a small concrete ledge near the top of a bridge in Swope Park, near the Kansas City Zoo.

"It appeared he had walked along a ledge to get to the point he was found at," KC Pet Project wrote.

Alongside firefighters, KC Pet Project's team of experts helped rescue the goat from the bridge, according to USA Today, which reported that Chug was then taken to a shelter, where he received treatment from veterinary staff.

In an update, KC Pet Project wrote that Chug was "bouncing back like a champ."

"Jeffery was carried to safety and transported to our veterinary clinic, where he received the VIP treatment: x-rays, fluids, the whole shebang," the organization wrote.

KC Pet Project explained how the goat was able to reach the concrete ledge, writing that he scaled a ledge that "was practically begging for a visit."

"Like a four-legged Spider-Man, he strutted along to each platform until he hit an 'oh no' point, the highest spot of the bridge, a cool 80 feet above water," the organization wrote.

KC Pet Project went on to write that Chug was "back on his hooves" and "ready to conquer the world once more," before going on to thank its team members who "all stayed late last night to help him."

The organization reported that Chug wasn't a mountain goat from the zoo, describing him as just "your run-of-the-mill goat" with a penchant for climbing.

In a second update, KC Pet Project, which had initially identified the goat as "Jeffery," confirmed his name as "Chug" after speaking with his family.
