Jody Morris charged with rape
Leeds United player Jody Morris and a 26-year-old man from London have both charged with rape, West Yorkshire Police have said.
Morris was earlier re-arrested in connection with the alleged serious sexual assault and team-mate Jermaine Pennant has also been detained.
Morris, 24, was originally quizzed last month following allegations that a 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Leeds in the early hours of October 7.
A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said two men aged 26 and 24 had been re-arrested while a 20-year-old man had been detained for the first time.
The spokeswoman said: "We have arrested a 20-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 26-year-old man. They are in police custody.
"They are being questioned in connection with an allegation of a serious sexual assault in the early hours of October 7. The 26-year-old and the 24-year-old have been re-arrested. The 20-year-old has been arrested for the first time."
The alleged incident happened on the A58 Wetherby Road in Leeds.
A source at Leeds United FC confirmed the 20-year-old man arrested was Jermaine Pennant. The England Under-21 star is on loan at the Yorkshire club from Arsenal until December 20.
Last month the Morris, formerly of Chelsea, was questioned, along with a 26-year-old man, in connection with a second separate allegation of serious sexual assault. He was later bailed but was suspended by the club following his first arrest.
Morris and the 26-year-old will appear at Leeds Magistrates Court.
