BRUNSWICK, Ohio -- The legacy of Collin Nemet continues in the city of Brunswick and beyond, with the recently announced name change of his family’s memorial mission.

Collin, a Brunswick resident, died in 2021, just shy of his 12th birthday, following a two-year battle with brain cancer.

Following his passing, his family formed A Great Big Beautiful Day to serve families facing the loss of children to chronic illnesses.

In an interview with the Brunswick Sun in 2022, Collin’s mother and founder of the mission, Kim Nemet, said her family’s journey continues even though Collin is no longer here.

“When he passed, Collin said he would do his job from heaven and we would do it here,” Nemet said at the time. “Which is to fight pediatric cancer.”

In a press release this month, Nemet said the renaming of the mission to Collin’s Beautiful Today, along with the unveiling of a new logo, “marks a significant milestone … signaling a vibrant evolution that remains deeply rooted in our unwavering commitment to supporting grieving families.”

She added that with the name transition “comes a fresh visual identity, meticulously crafted to reflect Collin’s spirit and the hope he imparted.”

“Collaborating with a talented designer, who shares our journey of loss, ensured that our new logo radiates warmth and optimism, embodying the essence of Collin’s Beautiful Today.”

According to CollinsBeautifulToday.com,its mission is to keep Collin’s legacy alive by supporting families through their grief.

“Collin had a way of helping people everywhere he went and was a constant ray of sunshine in the lives of others,” the website states.

“We connect with families who have lost a child to a chronic disease through our network of social workers active in children’s hospitals.

“We aim to shoulder some of their financial burden while offering grief management resources and solutions that helped our family.”

In the press release, Nemet said Collin’s Beautiful Today embodies his spirit of finding beauty and hope in each passing day, illuminating the path for families navigating profound loss.

“Through personalized connections, online resources, financial assistance for funerals and memorials, and fostering opportunities for shared growth and joy, we strive to honor Collin’s memory by extending solace to those in need,” she said.

The group’s third annual golf tournament will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. April 24 at Bunker Hill Golf Course, 3060 Pearl Road om Medina.

It will include the golf tournament, an outdoor steak dinner and raffle baskets.

Come enjoy a day of camaraderie and support as they honor Collin’s legacy.
